The middle lane is usually the more squishy champion of the two than the top lane champion. This is due to some factors that are very key to Zed's success. Most players however, play Zed in the middle lane. Zed can be played in the top or mid lane if he is played as a laner. He is a high-risk, high-reward champion that excels in getting kills and snowballing into a bigger threat. This should not be done as you may find yourself getting ganked, with little energy to use Living Shadow to escape.ĭespite these drawbacks, Zed should not be played as a passive laner (assuming you are laning with him, but if you are taking him as jungler it will be slightly different). His abilties expend a substantial amount of energy and have fairly high cooldowns, especially in the lower levels where you will most likely not have any items that boost cooldown reduction. Since his abilities does not require him to use mana, many players may find an urge to spam his abilities. Zed is also troubled with energy starvation. If a Zed does not itemize well, he can go down with little trouble. While he can easily escape in some situations, he can be locked down with heavy crowd control. Zed, however, is a squishy champion in his own right. Taking down these squishy targets can heavily decide a teamfight later in the game, as the enemy team can find themselves a man down and fighting a battle without their carries. Zed is most useful with taking down the high-value targets on the other team, like Vayne or Kog Maw. He deals an insane amount of damage to a single target.
