Reports even claim that Call of Duty 2023 will be delayed, which would be the first year that hasn't featured a new Call of Duty game in decades. Call of Duty Vanguard was relatively poorly received compared to other entries, continuing a critical slump for the franchise. The broader Call of Duty franchise is in an interesting place right now. That being said, particularly popular entries like Modern Warfare 2 and Black Ops 2 have managed to maintain enough players to at least find matches in game modes like Team Deathmatch.
